Funeral services were conducted at the Many First Baptist Church, with the Rev. C. W. Williams officiating. Interment was in the Many Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Survivors include a son, W. E. Pate of Alexandria; two daughters, Mrs. W. N. Price, and Miss Mattie Lee Pate, both of Pineville; a brother, Marshall Hawthorne of Arcadia; a sister, Mrs. Mollie Nash of Mansfield; eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were T. M. Phillips, Herbert Gandy, Jim Tyler, Leslie Head, Dr. Swepson Fraser, and Horace Tompkins.
