All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Reece Pattison 16 Jul 1948 - Double funeral services were held Tuesday for Reece Pattison, age 76, and Miss Nona Barbee, age 64, from the Methodist church at 4 p.m. Rev. C. W. Quaid, pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. C. S. Miers, pastor First Baptist church. Interment was in Many cemetery under direction Massingill funeral home. Mr. Pattison's pallbearers were: Charles E. Pattison, Ernest Ivy, Rance McElroy, Herald Williams, Robert Lucius and Joe McNeely. Honorary pallbearers were stewards of the Methodist church and Drs. S. F. Fraser and G. F. Weber. Surviving Mr. Pattison are: widow, Mrs. R. Pattison, brother, Dr. C. B. Pattison, Marthaville; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Barbee and Mrs. R. L. Arthur, Natchitoches, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Pattison was a well known citizen, coming to Many in 1907 from Marthaville, engaged in the mercantile business, was an employee of J. H. McNeely for 25 years. He was a great lover of nature, took an interest in beautifying grounds with natural shrubs. A number of places in Many were beautified under his direction. He passed away at the family residence on Dillon street at 4 a.m. Monday. Miss Nona Barbee died at the home of her sister, Mrs. R. Pattison at midnight Monday. Survivors are: a sister, Mrs. R. Pattison and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were A. L. Daily, Herbert Gandy, Dr. C. B. Tramel, R. A. Fraser, Jr., R. B. Jackson and Bennie McNeely. Miss Barbee was an interior decorator, spent most of her life in Many with the exception of several years in Shreveport. A number of homes in Many have the touch of her art as an interior decorator.
