Edwin A. Payton

  Edwin Arthur Payton, 60, a resident of Jonesboro, died Thursday
night at his residence, of an apparent heart attack.

  Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, in the Magnolia
Baptist Church in Saline, with the Rev. Ben Joyner officiating.
Masonic rites were conducted in the Magnolia Cemetery. Burial was
under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

  Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Lyons of
Many, and Mrs. Jo Ann Roden of Jonesboro; a sister, Mrs. Pauline
Covington of Ruston; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Payton of Saline; and
six grandchildren.
