Rev. Steve Spears, and Rev. Preston Tibbits officiated at the services. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mrs. Patton passed away at her home on the Marthaville Road at approximately 2:30 a.m., Sunday morning, December 26. She was found in her bedroom early the next morning by her daughter, Mrs. Myrtis Veuleman, who lived with her. She died of an apparent heart attack. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine Parish, and her home was a landmark to residents who lived on the Marthaville Road and surrounding community. She was born August 11, 1901, the second of eight children born to Elasure Caroline Bush, and Henry Martin Brumley. On March 9, 1919, she married Donny L. Patton Sr., of the Mt. Zion community, and from their union, seven children; two girls, and five boys were born. They were married by Mrs. Patton's grandfather, the Rev. W. M. Brumley. Shortly after their marriage, the built their present home, where they lived together until her husband's death in August 1955. In May, 1968, Mrs. Patton was involved in an automobile crash, which left her partially paralyzed. She spent many months in hospitals in Shreveport, undergoing surgery and therapy, and finally, she was left confined to a wheelchair. On warm, sunny days, one could find her sitting in her wheelchair on her front porch, playing with her little dog, Penny, and waving to her neighbors and family, as they passed down the highway. However, her favorite pastime was chatting on the telephone with her many friends and relatives. She always had a piece of cake of pie for those who dropped by for a visit, and was affectionately known as Aunt Artie, or Grandma Patton, by all who knew her. She was a charter member of the Friendship Baptist Church since its founding in 1962. Although she was unable to attend church regularly after her accident, she still held steadfast to her faith. Mrs. Patton is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Myrtis Veuleman of Many, and Mrs. Louise Wiley of Zwolle; five sons, Riley M. Patton, Huey Patton, and D. L. Patton, Jr., all of Many, Marshall Patton of Leesville, and Ira Patton of Starks, La. She is also survived by two brothers, Thomas Brumley of Eunice, La., and George Brumley of Nacogdoches, Tex.; twenty four grandchildren; forty five great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jimmy Patton, Joe Patton, Gary Patton, George Patton, Michael Wiley, Michael J. Veuleman, Glynn Veuleman, and Huey ?. Patton.
