Rev. Charles Barnett, pastor, and Rev. David Venable, Associate Pastor of Linwood Baptist Church of Shreveport, officiated. Burial with Masonic graveside rites, were held at Centuries Memorial Park. He died at 12:30 p.m., Friday, August 27, at the V. A. Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Pittman, born in Hosston, and a resident of the Shreveport-Vivian area all of his life, was a retired oilfield worker. He was a member of Joppa Lodge No. 362, Scottish Rites Bodies, Mithro Grotto, and El Karubah Temple. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Christine Pittman of Bossier City; mother, Mrs. Mattie Pittman of Many; sons, Virgil L. Pittman of Worthington, Ohio, Michael R. Pittman of Crowley; step sons, Harry Thomas of Lafayette, Rick Thomas of Mansfield; daughters, Mrs. Glenda Ezell of Lawton, Okla., Mrs. Gerry Brace of Bossier City; step daughters, Mrs. Ann Wilkinson of Lake Charles, Mrs. Janelle Thatcher of Lafayette; sisters, Mrs. Ruthelle Elkins of Shangaloo, Mrs. Jo Ann Webb of Zwolle; 22 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers: Members of Greater Unit of El Karubah Temple.
