He leaves his wife of 44 years, Marcia; daughter, Laurie Were and husband Todd; daughter, Diane Richards and husband Alan; and the joy of his life, grandchildren, Patrick Richards, Christopher Were, Jessica Were, and Cameron Richards, all in the Seattle area. Surviving family members in Louisiana include brother, Gerald Patrick of Lake Charles; sister, Doris Wright of Sulphur; sister, Betty Brown of Marthaville; aunt, Myrtle Patrick of Many; uncle, C. G. Alford of Sarepta; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Hubert was the son of the late Rollie Patrick, and Pearl Byrd Patrick, lifelong Many residents. During his youth, Hubert worked with his father in Mr. Patrick's service stations, which included his wrecker truck operation. Always a hard worker, Hubert kept the Many Cemetery mowed, and drove trucks that hauled rock for the creation of Hodges Gardens in the early 1950's. Hubert was an active participant in Many High School activities, especially football, basketball, and drama. He attended LSU, and Northwestern at Natchitoches prior to joining the army. Hubert was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., and Fort Lawton in Seattle, where he met and married Marcia. After completing his military service in 1957, Hubert worked for Chevron USA for 38 years. Hubert was a devoted, caring family man, always assisting those in need. He cherished his friends and family in Many, and made frequent trips "home" to visit them. He was a true "southern gentleman". Hubert will be greatly missed by those who know and love him. Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 19, at Acacia Funeral Home in Seattle, Wash. If you care to do something in remembrance of Hubert, you could make a donation to your local church or youth organization.
