Paul, Sr. 3 Nov 1933 - George I. Paul, Sr., died at the Allen sanitarium in Converse Sunday afternoon and his remains were interred in the Paul cemetery, near Converse, Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. Mr. Paul was 73 years of age, was born in Shelby county, Texas, in 1860 and came to Sabine parish the following years with his family and spent the remainder of his days as a good, useful and progressive citizen of Converse, having been one of the town's pioneer merchants and accumulated vast holdings of real estate and cattle with a foresight and faith in the future of the area that characterized him as a leading pioneer. He was an unselfish Christian gentleman, being a member of the Methodist church, always ready to provide his part in the building of roads and schools, eager for the advancement of his community and the education of his children. Deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lucy Paul; five sons, Julius S., Malcom, F. J., Maurice and G. I. Paul, Jr., and three daughters, Mrs. J. M. Tatum, Noble, Mrs. B. J. McWilliams, Converse, and Misses Pauline, Lois and Hazel Paul, Converse.
