Walter Powell

  Walter Powell, 73, died in Coushatta Monday, Sept. 6, at 10:30
a.m., after an extended illness.

  He is survived by his wife, Besse Powell of Florien; three sons,
W. H. Powell of San Antonio, Tex., Charlie H. Powell of Houston,
and Ted W. Powell of Frankfort, Germany; two brothers, Floyd
Powell of Evelyn, La., and Allison Powell of Coushatta; two
sisters, Verna Leach of Coushatta, and Erma Bullock of
Natchitoches, and six grandchildren.

  Services will be held today, at 10 a.m., in the Florien Baptist
Church, with the Rev. Joe Shaver officiating. Interment will be
in the Florien Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows
Funeral Home.

  Pallbearers will be Homer Jordan, LaMar Salter, Glynn Lilly, and
Joe Salter.
