Paul, 98, of Many, died on Sunday, Feb. 6, at 11:20 a.m., following an extended illness. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. J. B. Vandegaer of Many; a host of nieces, Nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Paul, who would have been 99 on April 11, had resided in Many since 1915. Born in Columbia County, Arkansas, Mrs. Paul first came to Sabine Parish as the young bride of Dr. J. S. Paul. Mrs. Paul dedicated her life to being a wife and mother, and to her church, St. John's Catholic Church. Funeral services were held at the St. John Catholic Church on Monday, Feb. 7, at 3 p.m., with Father Gustave Bergeron officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Theresa Corley. The Rev. Norman Buvens sang "The Old Rugged Cross", at the request of Mrs. Paul, prior to her death. Serving as alter boys were Peter Kopfinger, Mark Remedies, Matt Tarver, Joey Key, and Murdock Adams. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bill Andries, Cliff Massingill, John Blake Jr. Pete Abington, Jack Carmichael, and Louis Lowrey. Out-of-towners who attended included Mrs. C. V. Arrington Sr., C. V. Arrington Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Garvis Arrington, and Brady, and Adam, all of Stephens, Ark., Mr. and Mrs. Jerry W. Arrington Jr., and Melanie of Jackson, Miss., Mr. and Mrs. James P. Stewart of Ruston, Mr. C. C. Daubs of Leesville, sisters, Canice, and Edmund of Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Cloutier of Shreveport, Msgr. John C. Vandegaer of Stonewall, Father Norman Buvens of Powhatan, Mrs. R. R. Lot of Shreveport, Mrs. Cullen Sutton, and Mrs. E. J. Giering, both of Natchitoches, Miss Janet Youngblood of Mansfield, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Delhomme of Port Arthur, Tex., Mr. and Mrs. G. I. Bazemore of Keatchie, and Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Springer of Converse. Also attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Graham of Converse, and Martin Abington of Baton Rouge.
