Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ruby Powell of Florien; one son, Steven Powell of Florien; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Bruce of Shreveport; four brothers, J. V. Powell of Florien, Marvin Powell of Merryville, Dewitt Powell of Sulphur, and Clarence Powell of Runge, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. Edith Newman, and Mrs. Maudie Craft, both of Florien, Mrs. Lena Ayres of Zwolle, and Mrs. Marion Lay of Shreveport, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 1, at 11 a.m., at the Union Baptist Church. The Rev. C. H. Welch, and the Rev. Bobby Moore officiated. Burial was in the Prospect Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Tommy Sandel, Monroe Powell, Gene Craft, Thomas Powell, Luther Sandel, and Dewayne Sandel.
