Powell Sr., 57, of Leesville, were at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, in the Pine Grove Baptist Church, with the Revs. J. S. Todd, Charles Oikle, and Ed Basco officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery, under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Mr. Powell died Sunday morning, April 13, in Alexandria, after a lengthy illness. Survivors include widow, Virginia Powell of Leesville; sons, Sgt. Willie S. Powell Jr. of Topeka, Kan., Gerald Powell of Shreveport, Francis Basco of Moss Bluff, and Charles Basco of Boyce; daughters, Nelva Berry of Robeline, Lucille Ashby of Shreveport, and Ruthie Basco of Boyce; sisters, Eula Manasco, and Rita Manasco, both of Many, Barbara Scilace of Leesville, and Evelyn Mitchell, and Brenda Curtis, both of Robeline; brothers, Edward Powell, Perry Powell, and Michael Powell, all of Natchitoches, J. C. Powell of Many, Porter Powell of Jal, N. M., Sgt. Louis Powell of DeRidder, and Franklin Powell of Owensburg, Ky.; and 14 grandchildren.
