Bertha Jane Emmons Powell

  Services for Mrs. Bertha Jane Emmons Powell, 90, of Pleasant
Hill, were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 23, at the Pleasant hill
Baptist Church. The Rev. J. T. Weed officiated. Burial was at
Wallace Cemetery near Pleasant Hill. Plans were under the
direction of Drewett Funeral Home in Mansfield, La.

  Mrs. Powell, a retired school teacher, died Saturday, Jan. 21,
1984, at Colfax, La., after a long illness. She was a native of
Pelican, La.

  She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Betty Hinkie of Silsbee,
Texas, and Mrs. Sally Cockfield of Colfax, La.; one sister, Mrs.
Ottie Weed of Laurel, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and six great
grandchildren.
