The Rev. J. T. Weed officiated. Burial was at Wallace Cemetery near Pleasant Hill. Plans were under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home in Mansfield, La. Mrs. Powell, a retired school teacher, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 1984, at Colfax, La., after a long illness. She was a native of Pelican, La. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Betty Hinkie of Silsbee, Texas, and Mrs. Sally Cockfield of Colfax, La.; one sister, Mrs. Ottie Weed of Laurel, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
