Ruby Catherine Sandel Powell

  Services for Ruby Powell, 92, were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov.
13, at Union Baptist Church in Florien. Burial was at Prospect
Cemetery in Florien. Mrs. Powell was born Jan. 23, 1908, and died
Nov. 9, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laness D.
Powell; daughter, Ruby Lewing, and grandson, Harlon "Pete"
Lewing.

  Survivors include one son, Stephen Powell and wife Kay of
Florien; daughter, Ruth Bruce and husband Walter of Shreveport;
granddaughters, Sheila Anthony of Many, and Gloria Miller of
Logansport; grandsons, Kevin Lewing of Florien, and Kenny Bruce,
and Keith Bruce, both of Shreveport; six great grandchildren; two
great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

  She was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church, and well
known in the community as "Aunt Ruby".
