Bertha Pollard Powell

  Funeral services for Bertha Pollard Powell were held at 2 p.m.,
Sunday, March 10, 1996, in Mount Olive Baptist Church, Pitkin,
with the Reverends Newton McCullough, and Travis McCullough
officiating. Burial was in Blue Branch Cemetery, Pitkin, under
the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

  Mrs. Powell, 89, of Many, died at 8:37 a.m., Friday, March 8, in
Sabine Medical Center, Many.

  She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, and was a former
resident of Pitkin for seventy nine years. She was a former
resident of North Sabine Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill, La.

  She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Welch McCullough and
husband Reverend Travis McCullough of Many; one sister, Myrtle
Duffell of Pitkin; five grandchildren; fourteen great
grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and three
great-great grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

  Friends may call from 10 a.m., Sunday, March 10, 1996, until
time of services in the church.
