Powell Funeral services were held Sept. 10, in the Union Baptist Church, for W. A. Powell, 88, who died Sept. 8, in Many, after an extended illness. Officiating at the services were the Rev. C. H. Welch, the Rev. Ray Woodard, and the Rev. Kenneth Leach. Burial was in Toro Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Pallbearers were Monroe Powell, Rexford Powell, Jerry Powell, Francis Powell, Louis Newman, and Odis Lewing. Surviving relatives include five sons, Duward, and Osmer Powell, both of Florien, Dewitt Powell of Sulphur, Marvin Powell of Merryville, and Clarence Powell of Ringe, Tex.; five daughters, Mrs. Edith Newman, and Mrs. Maudie Craft, both of Florien, Mrs. Lena Ayers of Zwolle, Mrs. Gennie Brumfield, and Mrs. Zelma Lay, both of Shreveport; a sister, Mrs. Mollie Walker of Shreveport; and numerous grandchildren.
