Phelps, 47, will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Hixon Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder. The Rev. Dale Keel, Rev. Robert Stewart, and Rev. B. C. Ellis officiated. Burial was in New Cypress Cemetery in Rosepine. He died Monday, Oct. 20, at 8:20 a.m., at the Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. Mr. Phelps was a retired school teacher from the Rosepine Schools, where he taught 21 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, served 6 years in the U. S. Marines, and 26 years in the U. S. Air Force Reserves. He was a native of Oakdale. He is survived by his widow, Elaine Phelps; one son, Brad Phelps two daughters, Cheri, and Pam Phelps, all of Rosepine; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Phelps, Pleasant Hill, La.; two brothers, David Phelps, Kountze, Texas, Douglas Phelps, Germany; and two sisters, Leona Mann, Arlington, Texas, and Ivy Malaer, Shreveport.
