The Rev. Garthal Phelps officiated. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. He died Sunday, August 19, 1984, in Hephzibah, Ga., after a lengthy illness. He is survived by two sons, Douglas Phelps of Fort Gordon, Ga., David Phelps of Armory, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. Ivy Walaer of Shreveport, La., Mrs. Leona Mann of Arlington, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; three brothers, Randall Phelps of Lumberton, Texas, John Phelps of Rodessa, La., James Phelps of Fisher, La.; one sister, Mrs. Gladys McComic of Many, La.
