Mr. Phillips, born in Gloster, Louisiana, had resided in Many since 1940. He was a retiree of the Soil conservation Service, as an area engineer, and a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Dees Phillips, a daughter, Mrs. Gayle Fisher; a grandson, Patrick Wayne Fisher; a son-in-law, Larry Fisher; two step granddaughters, Leslie of Philadelphia, and Tammy Fisher of Many; three sisters, Mrs. Rita Ramsey of Mansfield, Mrs. Lois Hartsfield of North Little Rock, and Mrs. Robena Blann of El Dorado. Funeral services were held at Many First Baptist Church, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 1984, at 4 p.m., with Rev. Joe Ratcliff officiating. Interment was in Many Cemetery. Pallbearers were the Deacons of the First Baptist Church, where Mr. Phillips served as a deacon for 27 years.
