All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Rachel Fore Phillips (Photo) Mrs. Rachel Fore Phillips, 85, of Many, died in the Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, on February 2, 1987, at 12:50 a.m., after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m., in the First Baptist Church of Many, with the Rev. Joe Ratcliff officiating. Interment was in the Many Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mrs. Phillips laid in state at the Funeral Home from 10 a.m., until service time on Tuesday. Mrs. Phillips is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tom F. Phillips of Sunshine; two brothers, Bert Fore, and Calvin Fore of Arkansas; one sister, Mrs. Ray White of Arkansas; and three grandchildren, Louis, Ben, and Thomas Phillips, all of Sunshine. Mrs. Phillips was the widow of Tom M. "Pappy" Phillips, a long time Sheriff of Sabine Parish. She was a retired teacher, having taught in the Sabine Parish Schools for over 39 years, was a member of the Sabine Parish Retired Teacher's Association, member of the National Educational Association, and a member of the Louisiana Teacher's Association. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 59 years, and taught the T E L Sunday School class for over 25 years. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Louis, Ben, and Thomas Phillips, Pete Abington, Kerlin Sutton, Cary Johnson Jr., and two nephews, John Richard White, and Don White.
