T. and Susie West, was born May 1, 1879, in Geneva, Texas. Death came on Aug. 31, 1964, in Many, La., she having attained the age of 85 years and four months. Her family moved to Many, La. in 1895, when the population of Many included 5 families. She became a Member of the First Methodist Church, Many, by profession of faith and baptism, under the ministry of the Rev. J. S. Canders, in the year 1898. On December 21, 1902, she became the bride of George W. Phillips. This union was blessed by six children, all of whom survive. They are George Phillips, Monroe, La, Willie Phillips, LaMarque, Texas, Mrs. Morris Bounds, Center, Texas, Francis Phillips, Monroe, La., Mrs. Don Purswell, Cleveland, Tex., Mrs. E. R. Gleason, Baton Rouge, La. Also surviving are two step children, Mrs. Lela Etheridge, Longview, Texas, A. C. Phillips, Oak Harbor, Washington; one sister, Mrs. C. P. Wilson, Van Dosta, Ga.; thirty one grandchildren; and twenty nine great grandchildren. Services were at First Methodist Church, with Mrs. James E. Davis as organist. The Rev. Cleburn Quaid of Lake Charles officiated, and was assisted by Rev. Bengston in the service. Burial was in Many Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
