V. R. Miller, and the Rev. Elton Miller officiating. Burial was in the Many Cemetery, under direction of Warren Funeral Home of Many. According to state police, Phillips' car, traveling east on U. S. Highway 190, three miles east of Ragley, sideswiped an oncoming trailer truck, driven by Augustus Smith, 34, of New Orleans. The contact apparently threw the car sideways across the highway, where it was hit by another truck trailer driven by Elijah Robert Bradley of Houston, Tex. Officers said the Phillips car was so thoroughly damaged, it was difficult to determine the make and model. The first truck, officers said, was owned by H. L. Herrin Jr. of New Orleans, and was loaded with produce. Phillips is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jessie Phillips of Many; his father, Jim Phillips of Zwolle; two brothers, Jimmy H., and Douglas A. Phillips, Many; and one sister, Mrs. Thelma Fay Anthony, Florien.
