Polk, 49, of Shreveport, died at 6 a.m., Tuesday, at his residence, after a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 Wednesday, in Osborn Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Jack Merritt, pastor of the Ingleside Baptist Church. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. Polk was a native of Mansfield, and had resided in Shreveport for 26 years. He was an employee of South Central Bell Telephone Co., a member of the Ingleside Baptist Church, Fair Park Lodge, F. & AM, York Rite, El Karabah Shrine, and American Legion. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, and a master Mason. Among his survivors include a sister, Mrs. Eugene Hinton of Many.
