Pilcher 11 Aug 1944 - Sgt. Hamp F. Pilcher, was inducted Feb. 16, 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Walters, Texas. He was sent to Fort Benning, Ga., where he received paratroop training, completed his training in North Carolina. From there he was shipped to North Africa, Italy, Ireland, England and finally to France where he was killed June 20. Sgt. Pilcher is survived by his wife, the former Miss Nan Blanton of Heflin, Ala.; two brothers, Cpl. Curtis Pilcher in France and Riley Pilcher of Many route one; parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Pilcher, Many route one; three half-brothers, W. H. Pilcher of Menivettie, Tenn., R. H. Pilcher of Cotton Valley and J. P. Pilcher of Jakcson, Tenn; two half-sisters, Mrs. A. T. Gandy of Many route one and Mrs. W. F. Fontenot of Port Arthur, Texas.
