Walter J. Payne

  Walter Jackson Payne, 54, of Shreveport, died Saturday, after a
short illness.

  A native of Marthaville, he had lived in Shreveport for most of
his life, and was a switchman for the Kansas City Southern
Railroad.

  He was a Mason, and a chairman of a railroad workers' union.

  Funeral services and burial were held Monday in Shreveport.
