Pynes William James Pynes, 70, of Shreveport, died Jan. 12, at 7:15 a.m., following a brief illness. A native of Hornbeck, Mr. Pynes had resided in Shreveport since 1954. He was a retired locomotive engineer for Kansas City Southern Railway, and a member of the Queensborough Baptist Church. He was a past master of the Leesville Masonic Lodge, and the Fair Park Masonic Lodge. He was a Scottish and York Rite Mason, and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. W. T. Furr, pastor of Queensborough Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Forest Park Cemetery. Survivors include his widow; one son, James L. Pynes of Texarkana, Tex.; one daughter, Wilma Avrett of Selma, Ala.; two brothers, E. L. Pynes of El Paso, Tex.; one sister, May Jones of Zwolle; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
