Pynes of 2320 Jefferson St., Eugene, died March 4, 1987, at the age of 84. He was born December 26, 1902, in Hornbeck, Louisiana, and had been a Eugene resident since 1944. He was united in marriage, October 16, 1927, in McNary, Arizona, to his wife, Sally P. Vick, who survives him. He is also survived by 3 sons and their wives, Phillip and Linda Pynes of Portland, Jack and Jackie Pynes of Eugene, Fred and Patricia Pynes of Lebanon; a daughter and her husband, Sue Woodford-Beals and Carl Beals of Salem; 2 brothers and their wives, Ed and Jerry Pynes, Roy and Virginia Pynes, all of Eugene; 18 grandchildren; several cousins living in the south. He joined Baker Elks Lodge in 1933, and was a life member of Eugene Elks Lodge #357 BPOE, a member of the National Association of Retired Veteran Railroad Employees, and the United Trainman Union. He retired as a conductor in 1969, after 57 years of service. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 7th, at 12 noon, at Lounsbury Musgrove Funeral Chapel, with Eugene Elks Lodge #357 officiating. Private concluding services will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Elks National Foundation or Hospice, in care of the Chapel.
