Samuel F. Pynes

  Samuel F. Pynes of 2320 Jefferson St., Eugene, died March 4,
1987, at the age of 84. He was born December 26, 1902, in
Hornbeck, Louisiana, and had been a Eugene resident since 1944.
He was united in marriage, October 16, 1927, in McNary, Arizona,
to his wife, Sally P. Vick, who survives him. He is also survived
by 3 sons and their wives, Phillip and Linda Pynes of Portland,
Jack and Jackie Pynes of Eugene, Fred and Patricia Pynes of
Lebanon; a daughter and her husband, Sue Woodford-Beals and Carl
Beals of Salem; 2 brothers and their wives, Ed and Jerry Pynes,
Roy and Virginia Pynes, all of Eugene; 18 grandchildren; several
cousins living in the south. He joined Baker Elks Lodge in 1933,
and was a life member of Eugene Elks Lodge #357 BPOE, a member of
the National Association of Retired Veteran Railroad Employees,
and the United Trainman Union. He retired as a conductor in 1969,
after 57 years of service. Funeral services will be Saturday,
March 7th, at 12 noon, at Lounsbury Musgrove Funeral Chapel, with
Eugene Elks Lodge #357 officiating. Private concluding services
will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the
Elks National Foundation or Hospice, in care of the Chapel.
