Mr. Pentecost was a resident of Sabine Parish all of his life, having been born at Mt. Carmel. He was descended from the late John and Josie Pentecost. Mr. Pentecost was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Vandy was the beloved husband of Aleen Pentecost of Many. He is also survived by two daughters, Nell Alford of Many, Kay Self of Shreveport; four grandchildren, Dana Alford, Walker Alford, Kimberli Self, and Kelbi Self; two sons-in-law, Brue Alford of Many, and Doug Self of Shreveport. His surviving brothers and sisters are Ellis Pentecost of Ft. Jesup, Alton Pentecost, Eula Smith, Mamie Pentecost, all of Mt. Carmel, Edna Wallace of Converse, and Mary Burkett of Ringgold. Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m., at Little Flock Baptist Church, with interment at the Little Flock Cemetery. Officiating at the services were Brother Elcie Walker, and Brother Louis Skinner. Services were under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Phillip Tate, Don Terrell, Jay Thorton, Don Burkett, Joe Wallace, and John Smith. Serving as honorary pallbearers were C. G. Bullard, Buey Woodle, Sonny Miller, S. J. Edmunson, Ralph Vines, and Austin Strange.
