Ponder died Thursday morning, Jan 1, in a Shreveport hospital after a lengthy illness. Miss Ponder was a retired music and school teacher in the Minden schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She came to Minden in 1925 as a teacher and resided here since. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Jan 3 in the Green Gleinegger Chapel with Dr. Ronald Prince, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Fort Jesup Cemetery near Many. Graveside services were in the cemetery at 2 p.m. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, Judge William H. Ponder and Mrs. Cecil Davis of Many, L. Barbee Ponder of Amite and Mrs. Annita Ponder of Baton Rouge.
