T. J. Powers

  T. J. Powers, 92, died Thursday, March 27, in a DeRidder
hospital.

  Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Friday, in the Cooper
Baptist Church on Merryville highway, with the Rev. E. L. Read,
and the Rev. James Watson officiating. Burial was in the Cooper
Cemetery, under the direction of Beauregard Funeral Home.

  Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Mertie Hair, Mrs. Ethel
Bennett, Mrs. Dorothy Lee Martin, and Mrs. Eva Craft, all of
Merryville, Mrs. Gertie Thompson, and Mrs. Virginia Hair, both of
Houston, Mrs. Audrey Gibbs of Hornbeck; one son, Thomas Vernon
Powers of Merryville; 27 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren,
and four great-great grandchildren.
