Officiating was Bishop William B. Friend, and Rev. Donald V. Blanchard. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Park in Baton Rouge, under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge. Father Pierce passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at 11:54 a.m., at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was a priest, having served in the Diocese of Alexandria and Shreveport. His pastoral assignments were as follows: 1925-1955, St. Joseph's Church in Marksville 1955-1968, St. Ann Church in Ebarb, St. Catherine Chapel in Noble and Converse 1968-1979, St. Louis Church in Glenmora, St. Peter Chapel in Elmer, and St. Jude Chapel in Sieper 1979-1986, Sacred Heart Church in Springhill, St. Margaret Church in Homer, and St. Michael Chapel in Haynesville 1986-1989, St. Theresa Church and School in Shreveport 1989-1993, Chaplain at the Willis-Knighton Medical Center, Shreveport. He retired from the Diocese of Shreveport in 1996. Survivors include a sister, Eola Mae "Chic" Aubin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James D. and Gale Pierce, and Robert J. "Bob" and Bobbie Pierce, all of Baton Rouge; special friend, Sister Mary Ann Sepulvado, O. S. F., member of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady, Monroe; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. Sr. and Eliska Brignac Pierce. He was a member of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus Council 4814 in Sabine Parish, in Zwolle.
