Pierce Funeral rites for George Robert Pierce, age 94 years, were held Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Marthaville Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Myers, and Rev. Henry Isgitt officiating. Burial was in the Pisgah Cemetery, under the direction of the Blanchard Funeral Home. Mr. Pierce, a retired farmer, died at the family home near Marthaville last Monday, Jan. 30. Survivors include his widow; a son, Reuben U. Pierce of Waxahatchie, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. A. D. Frank of Boca Raton, Fla., and Mrs. Frank P. McKegney of Flushing, N. Y.; a brother, C. H. Pierce of Fort Worth, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Louisa Chambless of Waco, Tex.; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Mr. Pierce was active in public affairs until his retirement. He served on the Sabine Parish Police Jury from his home ward, nine, for 20 years. He was first elected to that body in 1912.
