Eugene F. Phares, 57, of Princeton, who died in a Dallas, Texas hospital Saturday, were held at 9 a.m., Monday, in the Fillmore Baptist Church. The rites were conducted by the Rev. W. O. Williams of the Bethel Baptist Church of Coushatta, and the Rev. Hall Peyton of the First Baptist Chapel of Red Chute. Interment was in the Mount Carmel Cemetery near Florien, under the direction of Wellman Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were members of the Fillmore Baptist Church. The Rev. Phares was a native of Sabine Parish. He had resided in Princeton for the past three years, where he was the pastor of the Fillmore Baptist Church in Fillmore. He was moderator of the Bossier Baptist Association, and served as pastor of several Bossier churches. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hazel Addison Phares; two sons, Durward Phares of Los Angeles, Calif., and Vernon Phares with the U.S. Air Corps of Florida; a half brother; and a half sister.
