Pirkle, 79, were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 24, 1989, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Officiating was Dr. Robert Magee. Burial was at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the St. Maurice Cemetery in St. Maurice, La., under the direction of Kilpatrick's in Ruston. Mr. Pirkle died Monday, May 22, 1989, at his residence in Ruston, following a sudden illness. He was a retired Chemical Engineer with the Exxon Corporation, and a native of Iredell, Texas, and a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Ruston. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club. He is survived by one daughter, Jane B. Pirkle of Tyngsboro, Mass.; one grandson, James M. Pirkle; one granddaughter, Jane Carolyn Pirkle, both of Norfolk, Va.; four sisters, Mittie Weldon of Bernice, La., Thelma Fowler of Pineville, Mildred Walker of Florien, La., and Geraldine Brian of Alexandria, La., and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Louis E., and Frances R. Pirkle endowment scholarship, at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La.
