Parker Jr., age 62, died Saturday, May 18, at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held in Marthaville, La., at Jennings Chapel, with interment in the adjoining cemetery, on Tuesday, May 21, at 12 noon. J. D. retired from Texas Eastern Transmission Corp., after 35 years of service. His retirement in 1985 brought him to his beloved farm in the special community of Marthaville in Natchitoches Parish. Aside from building a wonderful home and farm for his family, he was proudest of being instrumental in the development of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department. At the time of his death, J. D. Was Chairman of the Board of Fire Protection District #7 in Natchitoches Parish. He was a charter member of the Troop, former Executive Director of Corporate Information Services for Texas Eastern, former Fire Chief, Bethany Volunteer Fire Department. J. D. was a member of Martin-McClanahan Masonic Lodge #384 F&AM in Bossier City, past President of the Shreveport DPMA, past International President of the Data Processing Management Association, and former member of Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. He received his executive MBA from the Darden School of the University of Virginia., He also attended Centenary College in Shreveport. "I have lost a great friend" is the sentiment expressed by J. D.'s friends and family. He leaves behind to continue his work on earth, his loving wife and friend for 38 years, Patsye; his two sons, Jimmy, and Jerry; Jerry's wife, Melissa; and their daughter, Kayla; one daughter, Georgia Lynn Hilton; her husband, Michael; and their son, Michael Jr. He was a great husband, dad and Paw-Paw. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, Marthaville, La., or to the charity of the donor's choice.
