Prewitt 15 May 1959 - Rev. J. B. Prewitt was laid to rest May 1 in Good Hope cemetery. He was 76 years, 10 months and 3 days of age. He is among the last of the pioneer preachers of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in Vernon parish. He served his Christ for 32 years as a preacher. He pastored churches in Vernon, Sabine, Beauregard and Allen parishes, also in the state of Texas. He passed on to his reward April 29. His presence will be missed in many places, but his influence will be felt and used until Jesus returns. Hixon Funeral Home directed the funeral. The services was conducted by Rev. E. E. Fields, superintendent of missions, District 6, Shreveport, assisted by Dr. R. S. Crawford, pastor of 1st church, Leesville, Rev. O. S. Roberts, pastor of 1st church of Provencal. His survivors are two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Mae Fitts of Anacoco, Mrs. Evie Bolgiano, Galveston, Texas; W. B. Prewitt, Anacoco, and Rev. V. L. Prewitt of Mooringsport; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Tibbitt, Robeline; Mrs. Pearlie Palmer, Anacoco; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Rev. J. I. Funderburk, Gibsland, Rev. Jason Kay, Gilliam; Rev. H. H. Tibbitts, Many; Rev. H. H. Prewitt, Evans; Rev. J. P. Mathis, Leesville and Rev. V. L. Prewitt of Mooringsport. Rev. Prewitt had a great host of friends and relatives.
