Prothro, 75., of Shreveport, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, in Rose-Neath Funeral Home's Marshal Street Chapel. The Rev. Clint Davis, pastor of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. The Rev. Prothro, a native of Marshall, Texas, died August 11, 1984, in Schumpert Medical Center, following a sudden illness. He had been a resident of Shreveport for 11 years, and was a former resident of Negreet, La. He was a retired Baptist minister. He was a member of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church, and F. and A. M., and of the Little Flock Lodge in Negreet. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elva Roe Prothro of Shreveport; one son, Johnie O. Prothro of Shreveport; two daughters, Mrs. Jewel McElwee of Bossier City, and Mrs. Margie Colton of Ruston; three sisters, Mrs. Effie King of Belmont, La., Mrs. Vivian Crow of Robeline, La., and Mrs. Ila King of Choudrant, La.; two brothers, Bill Prothro of Natchitoches, La., and Author Prothro of Robeline; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. His nephews served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church, and members of Men's Three Sunday School Class.
