Prothro, Sr. - January 21, 1988 Services for Mrs. H. M. Prothro Sr. (Margaret Tyler), 80, of Pleasant Hill were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, in First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill with the Rev. J. C. Salley and the Rev. Gayle Dean officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath's Mansfield Chapel. Mrs. Prothro, a native and lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, where she was a music director for many years. She was past president of the North Sabine Assoc., Women's Mission Union. She was also active in the Louisiana W.M.U. where she served on the Allocations Committee. She was a former camp nurse of the Clara Springs Encampment. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hassell Melton Prothro Sr. and survived by two sons, the Rev. H. Melton Prothro Jr. and his wife Margaret of Haughton, E. Hayes Prothro of Austin, Tx.; one daughter Mary P. Stuart and her husband Dan of Dallas; ten grandchildren, Daphne Prothro, Debby Bozeman, Danna Hendrix, H. Drew Prothro, Stephanie Thomas, Susan Stuart, Dan Stuart Jr., Brian Laura, and Christina Prothro; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were James Spann, Mike Murray, Benny Powell, Hugh Hardee, Thomas Hardee, Limon Simon, Clarence Gewin and John Neal. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. C. E. Poimboeuf, Ortho Woods, James Tarver, Bobby Salley, George Shannon, Roy Bush Bridges, Bill Freeman, Sidney Sanders, Harold Dillard and Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to the Margaret Tyler Prothro Music Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of People's State Bank in Pleasant Hill, La. or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, La.
