Porter, 78, of Florien, apparently died instantly, when his car was struck by a loaded log truck on Monday, Aug. 6, at 2:15 p.m. According to Louisiana State Police Officer, Raymond Isgitt, Porter was pulling out onto Highway 171 from Lewing's Grocery in Florien, when the mishap occurred. Witnesses said logs blocked the highway for over an hour, before all could be cleared off the roadway. Jimmy T. Colston of Robeline, was driving the truck. He was taken to a Many hospital, with undetermined injuries. (INDEX Photo).
