Mary Germaine Powell

Mrs. Mary Germaine Powell, 82, of Rosepine died May 23, 2004 at
Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 27 at St.
Michaels Catholic Church in Leesville with burial followed at
Memory Lawn Park in Natchitoches. Father Angelo Messina officiated.
Mrs. Powell was a native of Many and moved to Merryville in 1946
where she lived most of her life. She resided in Pickering in her
later years. She was formerly employed for Louisiana
Forestry Service at the Beauregard Nursery near DeRidder. She worked
at Watson's Grocery and Slaydon's Grocery in Merryville and she
worked at Merryville General Hospital as an Aide.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Leesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Powell, two sons,
Thomas Powell and the Rev. James Powell; and one daughter, Mary Ann
Powell; two brothers; two grandchildren; and three sons-in-law.
She was a wonderful mother, wife, sister and friend.
Survivors include three sons, Francis Fuzz Powell of Merryville,
Jerry "J. C." Powell of DeRidder and Ben Powell of Daphne, Ala.;
three daughters: Wannelle Jaeger, Mary Roxie Briggs and Bridget
Huie, all of Leesville; one brother, Albert Clanan of El Paso,
Texas; two sisters, Elma Abraham of Natchitoches, and Laura Hebert
of Ragley; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
