Quillen of Mansfield, formerly of Shreveport and Fisher, died Tuesday, April 14,1998 in Mansfield. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17 at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Avenue. Dr. Scott Tatum, (ret) former pastor of Broadmoor Baptist Church, officiated. Mr. Quillen was born in Tyrone, Mo., Dec. 29, 1899. He was a W. W. I. Veteran, having served in France during the war. He moved to Fisher in 1921 and was employed by LA. LONG LEAF LBR CO for 46 years. He retired in 1967 as General Manager and member of the Board of Directors and moved to Shreveport in April of that year. He was also a member of Fisher Baptist Church, where he was a choir director. Men's Sunday School Class teacher and church treasurer. Upon moving to Shreveport, he became active in the Broadmoor Baptist Church and became teacher of the men's Progressive Class. Ill health forced him and his wife to move to Mansfield Nursing Center in March 1997. Survivors include two daughter, Mrs. Jane Rougeau and son-in-law, Dr. James Rougeau of Mansfield and Mrs. Nancy McDonald of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Robert McDonald, Elizabeth Coe and Gregory Rougeau; two great-grandchildren, T. J. and Claire Burke; two nieces, Daphne Davis of Springfield, Mo. and Kathleen Jennings of Mariposa, Calif. Mr. Quillen was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Y. Quillen (5-8-97); two brothers, Rufus and Rob Quillen; and one sister, Maxine Bosley. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff at Mansfield Nursing Center for the love and care given to Mr. Quillen.
