Rives were held at 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Zwolle, on Dec. 27. Rev. Walter Parr officiated. Interment was in Bellwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Temple, Tex., under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Dr. Rives died at his residence on Monday, December 26, 1994. He was a resident of Pine Bluff, Ark., and a longtime resident of Jackson, Tex. Dr. Rives attended the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock, Ark. He served his residency in Urology and Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Dr. Rives was a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology. He practiced at the Travis Clinic in Jacksonville, Tex., from 1953-1978. He was a past Chairman of the Travis Clinic Foundation, Charter Member of the American Academy of Medical Directors Association, and former President of the Cherokee County Medical Society. He was a resident of the Toledo Bend area for the past seven years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Corbett Rives; a son, Hugh Farrar Rives Jr.; and a stepson, Sam Sadler. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Laura Rives of Many; son, George R. and wife Joanie Rives of Lafayette; daughter, Susan and husband Dr. Robert Cummings of Allentown, Pa.; stepson, Jerry William and wife Karen Sadler of Houston; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jack Wilson, Doug Lee, Keel Boudreaux, Rodney Masters, William Anslinger, Jack Carston, Hugh Lee Bruce, Dr. Kirby Guidry, Dr. Joe Crawford, and David Romano.
