All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Helen Underwood Robinson (Photo) Helen Underwood Robinson of Many was born Oct. 16, 1946, to the late Cleve and Beatrice Underwood in Many, and she died Aug. 24, 2002, at Willis Knighton South in Shreveport. She was baptized at an early age at Bethel Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Rev. N. P. Jones. She was a graduate of Sabine High School in 1964. She was a devoted mother and wife. In her early years, she was a member of the church choir. She was also the first black woman to work in Big Star as a cashier, and she was employed by the Town of Many as a water clerk four years ago. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Aug. 30, at Bethel Baptist Church. The Rev. C. R. Raney will officiate. Survivors include her devoted husband, Ned G. Robinson; three daughters, Sonya Gorham and Gary of Fairbanks, Ala., Valisa King and Michael of Many, and Mia Robinson of Houston, Texas; two sons, Stanley Johnson and Sandra of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Cedric Robinson of Rialto, Calif.; one god-child, Johnnie Williams of Houston, Texas; brothers, Ramond Underwood of Cleveland Texas, Robert, Leon, and Marshall Underwood, all of Many, and Ishmall Underwood of Houston, Texas; sisters, Ernestine Lilly, Bobbie Sweet of Many, and Hazel Williams of Natchitoches; God-sisters, Dorothy Burleson, Faye Kennedy, and Dorothy Coleman; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
