The Rev. Charles Humphreys will officiate. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Bailey Mortuary in Springhill. Hettie Roper died Tuesday, October 15, 1985, in Springhill, after a long illness. She was a native of Negreet, La. Hettie Roper had resided in Springhill from time to time since 1917, and had been a permanent resident since 1951. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 166 in Springhill. She is survived by a grandson, Jim B. Florey of Monroe, La.; five great grandchildren, Jim B. Florey, Jr., and Christopher J. Florey of Monroe, Vivian K. Reese of Dallas, Texas, Betty R. Beard, and James Reese of Hope, Ark.; one great-great granddaughter; seven step grandchildren, Emile Roper of Natchitoches, La., Emmett Roper, and Paul Roper of Houma, La., Mrs. Wilson (Ruth) Peevy of Oil City, La., Mrs. James (Ollie) Bourg of Shreveport, La., Jack Roper of Lake Charles, La., and Shelby Roper of Baton Rouge, La.; one sister, Hazel Flanakin McLaren of Springhill; three brothers, H. A. Flanakin of Silver Springs, Md., B. G. Flanakin of Amite, La., and B. E. Flanakin of Springhill; and several nieces and nephews.
