Rivers, 62, died in Pleasant Hill Hospital, on June 7, 1986, at 4:20 a.m., after an extended illness. Mr. Rivers was a member of the V. F. W. Post 5187, D. A. V., and was in World War II. Services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, on Monday, June 9, at 10 a.m., with Father Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie G. Rivers of Noble; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Michael Craig; two grandsons, Brian Craig, and Nicholas Craig; eight sisters, Josephine Garcie of Zwolle, Bertha Livingston, and Hazel Lustgraff of Shreveport, Mary Bell of Longview, Tex., Ruth Talley of Enterprize, Ala., Doris Fay Malmay of Rocky Mount, Thelma Sue Morrison of Hineston, and Maggie Edmunds of Hornbeck; and a number of nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were nephews, Benny Ray Rivers, Johnny Lee Rivers, Terry Rivers, Lane Contario, Danny Garcie, Larry Paul Tucker, Joe Garcie, and Tommy Garcie. Honorary pallbearers were V. F. W. Post 5187 members, Homer Martinez, James Bebee, Billie Miller, Lawrence Leone, Huey Cordova, Merce Almond, and Bob Remedies.
