"Jim" Rivers, 67, a resident of McLean, Virginia, for 30 years, died of a heart attack, on February 12, 1987, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D. C. Mr. Rivers, who was born in Zwolle, Louisiana, was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force. During his 30 years of service, which ended in 1968, he was stationed in Hawaii, Bermuda, and in Washington, at the Pentagon. He was a recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal. After the service, he worked as a tax investigator, with the State of Virginia for five years. Mr. Rivers was a volunteer office manager for the Lupus Foundation of Greater Washington, for many years. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lillian P. Rivers of McLean, Virginia; two daughters, Carolyn R. Yandle of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Linda R. Hamilton of Fairfax, Virginia; a son, James M. Rivers of Falls Church, Virginia; a sister, Marilyn A. Sepulvado of Zwolle; a brother, Bobby G. Rivers of Zwolle; step mother, Ethel Laroue of Zwolle; and three grandchildren. A funeral mass was held in St. James Catholic Church, Falls Church, Virginia, with burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
