Rivers, Sr. Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Bernard Catholic Church for Melvin Rivers, Sr., 62, who died at 4 a.m. Saturday at the VA Hospital in Alexandria. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Melvin Wayne Rivers, Jr. of New Iberia and Donald Ray Rivers of Parks; three daughters, Mrs. Allen (Glenda) Champagne of Lafayette, Mrs. Lloyd (Margie) Degeyter and Mrs. J.J. (Elaine) Badeaux, both of Breaux Bridge; three brothers, Clarence Rivers of Gardner, Andrew "Dick" Rivers and Monroe Rivers, both of Alexandria; three sisters, Mrs. Ellis (Bessie) Ebarb of Ebarb, Mrs. James (Ethel) Corley of Alexandria and Mrs. Ray (Ruby) Torry of Tioga; 21 grandchildren. He was a veteran of World War II. Marshal-Huval Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
