He is survived by his wife, Pearl Rund Rivers; four daughters, Ann Hill of Palo Alto, California, Barbara Trow of Aurora, Colorado, Caren Collins of Livingston, Texas, Donna Mazon of Aurora, Colorado, Lisa Trow Ortega of Grand Junction, Colorado, Leslie, Victoria, Amanda, Stacey, and Rebecca Rivers, all of Florien; four great grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Hill of Baltimore, Md., Terry Decia Ortega of Grand Junction, Colorado, Damien Trow of Aurora, Colorado; and one sister, Doty Jones of Greenwood, Mississippi. Buford Lamar Rivers Sr. was born in Thomasville, Alabama, on August 7, 1914. When he was still a youth, his family moved to Iceland, Mississippi, and then to Strightown, Mississippi, where they were engaged in farming. He attended Mississippi State College, and Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. It was in Golden, that he met his wife to be, Pearl, and they were married a year later, moved to Benoit, Mississippi, where he also farmed. He was a member of Lions for a short time, and was a Kiwanis member for many years, serving two terms as President of the Golden Colorado Chapter. He moved to Many, La., in 1991, when he joined his son Buford Jr. and his family, and they farmed the Rivers Poultry Farm, located on Highway 191 South.
