Rivers Jr., 13, formerly of Zwolle, passed away April 6, at Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, following a courageous battle with a congenital heart defect. Services for Randal were held Tuesday, April 9, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Zwolle. Father David Richter, Father Danny Walsh, and Msgr. Earl Provenza officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Randal is survived by his mom, Rose Rivers of Shreveport; his dad and step mom, Randal S. Rivers Sr. and Angela of Seadrift, Tex.; a sister, Shelby, also of Seadrift. Other survivors include grandparents, Betty Martin of Shreveport, Bobbie G. and Carolyn Rivers of Zwolle; maternal and paternal grandparents of Shreveport and Zwolle. Randal also leaves behind his Godparents, Carolyn Rivers, and Michael A. Rivers of Zwolle; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, T. L. Laysone; and a great grandmother, Ethel "Other Momma" Laroux. Randal was currently a sixth grade student at Fannin Middle School in Seadrift, Tex. He previously was an honor roll student at Walnut Hill Elementary in Shreveport, where he was voted best all around student. Randal loved the Lord, and attended church regularly. He believed in prayer. He had a smile and a hug for everyone. Randal enjoyed playing his trumpet, and the piano, golfing, rock, coin, and card collecting, painting, arrowhead hunting, and being a #1 Dallas Cowboy fan!!! He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched. Pallbearers were Sam Rivers Jr., Henry Rivers, Clark Rivers, Tim Sepulvado, Ronnie Sepulvado, and Sam Rivers III. Honorary pallbearers were the sixth grade class of Fannin Middle school. Visitation was at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Zwolle.
