Rivers, 76, of Lake Charles, died at 10:05 a.m., Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in a local hospital. Mr. Rivers was a native of Zwolle, and lived in the Lake Charles-Sulphur area since 1947. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in WWII as a radioman in the Pacific Theatre. He retired as a Chief Operator at Cities Service Oil Company. He was a very active member of Boulevard Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Dec. 5, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Dr. Mark Stag will officiate. Survivors include his widow, Nelda Rivers of Lake Charles; two sons, Donald L. Rivers of Lake Charles, and Alan Rivers of Indianapolis, Ind.; one stepdaughter, Jan Cameron of Ecru, Miss.; one brother, Arvin Rivers of Westlake; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Jones of Shreveport, and Mrs. Merle Chisholm of Maitland, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
