Funeral services were conducted Sept. 16, Saturday, at the Pleasant Hill First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Cecil Salley, the Rev. Preston Tibbitts, and the Rev. H. H. Tibbitts officiating. Interment was in the McMahon Cemetery near Shelbyville, Tex., under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula Rivers of Pleasant Hill; six sons, J. T. Rivers of Channelview, Tex., W. W. Rivers of Pitkin, F. E. Rivers, and L. A. Rivers, both of Houston, Tex., B. H. Rivers of Baton Rouge, and E. L. Rivers of the U. S. Navy stationed in Guam; a daughter, Mrs. W. R. Miller of DeRidder; two brothers, R. H. Rivers, and M. H. Rivers, both of Dallas, Tex.; five sisters, Mrs. C. G. Johnson of Robeline, Mrs. Ethel Peacock of Marthaville, Mrs. Tom Herrington of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Lavell Harvey, and Mrs. Laverne Lalande, both of Raceland; and 20 grandchildren. The Masons served as pallbearers.
